Printing onto plasterboard/drywall can be challenging. Whether it’s known as gypsum board, gyprock, wallboard – there are many names for it – the challenges remain the same.

A hot, dusty environment, high linear speeds, continuous production, and little tolerance of errors. It’s an application that demands the very highest standards of reliability.

Printing onto the Backing Paper

This is the most demanding printing application for plasterboard/drywall manufacturers. Printing at linear speeds of 100-200m/min. (300-600ft/min.) the code typically comprises a product description, compliance information/logos, such as manual handling warnings or European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes, and perhaps manufacturing time/date stamp content. Critically, the manufacturer's logo, in a large format, is also printed as part of this message. The requirement for this content to reflect well on the manufacturer’s branding demands a combination of high print resolution and great print quality.

The Domino Cx350i industrial printer offers an unparalleled combination of large format, high-resolution printing, utilising the latest generation of Piezo Ink Jet (PIJ) technology. It can produce graphics and logos, text using true-type fonts (including real-time data), and machine-readable codes – in any size and combination. Capable of true industrial line speeds, it provides plasterboard/drywall manufacturers with a solution for coding without compromise.

Printing onto the Side of a Stacked Pallet

The manufacturer’s logo is often printed onto a stack of palletised boards. The requirement here is for excellent print quality, and for the printing to be as large as is practicable.

Using the Cx350i, up to four print heads – each with a print height of 65mm – can be combined to achieve a print area of up to 260mm.

Additional Online Printing Applications

Whether it’s printing manufacturing site codes onto the edge of the board, or adding screw/clout nail marks to the front face of the board, Domino’s Ax range of continuous inkjet printers can be used to print manufacturing/site codes onto the edge of the board or add screw marks to the front face.

Our Automation and Integration Services help make the coding process safer and prevent errors from happening.

Domino Automation and Designer, our software tools for centralised label management and automated deployment, are designed to boost your production efficiency: streamline operations and minimise waste.

Using Domino Automation you can create messages centrally and automatically pass them down to all Domino printers on your production.

  • Design and manage labels at a single location: our intuitive label design system enables using a universal interface, keeping training needs at a minimum.
  • Easily manage users and their permissions: security features like Active Directory Integration enable using your existing IT network, and simplify user management.
  • Full audit trail for the management of production changes: version control provides the ability for approval and roll-back procedures.

Vision control system

To automatically check codes on line, Domino has developed a range of vision control systems in close cooperation with leading camera suppliers.

  • Highly intuitive, easy to set-up and use
  • Can control reject systems
  • Range of lighting and bracketry to suit specific production lines
